How to get over a breakup
Throw things away. The things you bought together or were given as gifts are the things that remind you most of your partner. Many people are hurting today and consider them precious knick-knacks, but removing them from your life will help you move on much faster than keeping them all in plain sight. Whether it\’s something practical like shoes, a new kitchen tray to serve breakfast in bed, an unwanted trinket like an earring, a stashed rose petal, or a pointlessly hidden pebble from a vacation together, it\’s all gone at once. Put it all in a box and throw it all away. You don\’t have to sort through it, review it over and over, and throw it away step by step. It\’s not about getting rid of the things themselves, it\’s about getting rid of the lingering pain.
Friends. Perhaps the worst nightmare of a relationship that is over is friendships, who keeps in touch with whom and who does not. Are they his friends or yours? What about the people you met together? You may want to take some time off, relax, and meet other people. However, there is no need to permanently sever the friendships you made during the relationship. Simply staying in touch with the same people as your ex-partner can show that you\’re on top of things and that you\’re moving on with your life without problems. By staying on top of everything and not worrying about what your ex will say, you make it clear that you are an independent woman and can live your life completely on your own, without being emotionally dependent.
Change for the better. Change is what helps you move forward in life. In the classic Hollywood blockbuster movie, the first thing the protagonist does when he is alone is to go shopping. He buys shoes, clothes, anything he can get his hands on. And let\’s not forget a new haircut. Even if you can\’t go back to being Jennifer Aniston, a few new fashion items in your closet won\’t hurt.
A beautiful new dress and a new hairstyle, ideally a new color on your head, will make you feel like a whole new person, and you will more easily forget the painful breakup and feel likeable and like yourself again. But remember that you are making the change primarily for yourself, not to show your ex-partner the beautiful woman he or she really missed. It is the desire to win their pity or to show off that will bring you to your knees again.
